Where it started
Our Story
GodFirst Family Church began as a passionate, close-knit group committed to seeing lives deeply transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. From its humble beginnings rooted in Johannesburg, extending through Benoni, and finally planted in Boksburg in September 2021 by a vibrant family of believers. We have always been driven by a vision of creating a place where real people find authentic faith and genuine family. We believe that the church is not merely a building or an institution but a living, breathing family deeply connected through Christ.
Our Family Heartbeat
At GodFirst Family Church, our vision defines who we are:
“A family following Jesus, as He transforms us and the world around us.”
Our mission is lived out in three powerful, life-giving ways:
- Be With Him: Developing deep, personal intimacy with Jesus through worship, prayer, and daily devotion.
- Be Formed By Him: Allowing the transformative power of Christ to shape our identity--hearts, minds, and actions.
- Be Love Like Him: Actively sharing and expressing Christ’s love in our relationships, community, and the world around us.
We firmly believe that real transformation is cultivated best within a thriving, supportive, and authentic community.
Our Family Convictions
Our church community is shaped by core convictions deeply rooted in scripture and the example of Jesus Christ:
- Christ-Centered: Everything revolves around the life, death, resurrection, and teachings of Jesus.
- Born of the Spirit: Regeneration or new birth is a sovereign work of the Holy Spirit, bringing spiritually dead sinners to life in Christ.
- Spirit-Filled: We believe in the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit guiding us daily.
- Bible-Based: Scripture is our foundational authority, guiding all we do.
- Missionally Minded: Committed to spreading the transformative gospel locally and globally.
- One New Man In Christ: The dividing wall of hostility between ages, culture, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and sex have been broken down in Christ. All are lavished with unmerited grace, valued, loved and respected in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Prayerful: Deeply reliant on prayer, individually and collectively, as a means to communion with God.
Our Family Values
The lived experience of our family is found in core values that emerge in the example of Jesus Christ:
- Grace: is the unmerited favor of God, freely given through Jesus Christ to undeserving sinners. It is by grace that we are saved, sustained, and sanctified. Grace humbles our pride, empowers our obedience, and transforms our lives. We seek to be a community shaped by grace—extending forgiveness, showing kindness, and walking in the freedom Christ has purchased for us.
- Restoration:is the renewing power of the gospel to take what is sinful, broken, and lost and restore it the image of Christ.
- Unity: comes through the power of the Spirit in the bonds of peace, recognising that we are one body in Christ called to live in harmony and love. Our unity is a testimony to the world of Gods love at work amongst us.
- Delight: Our greatest joy, satisfaction and love are found in the Lord Jesus. We delight in his presence and his ways. Our times together are marked by joy, rejoicing in the beauty of His goodness
